Cultivating The Wild

Cultivating the Wild is an exhibition showcasing exquisite ceramic works created by the well-known Thai artist Krisaya Luenganantakul, who has gained recognition on the international stage. The delicate, paper-like rings are crafted with a creation process that demands subtlety at every step, from molding the paper to firing and assembling each part together. The balance of each sculpture is vital for its sustainability, just like how the human mind can be sustained if we explore, contemplate, and are mindful of every moment we breathe.

Krisaya Luenganantakul or Liew graduated from Chulalongkorn University before continuing her study specifically in ceramic art at the School for American Crafts (Rochester Institute of Technology) in New York, USA. She then earned a doctoral degree from The College of Planning and Design (Institute of Creative Industries Design, National Cheng Kung University), Taiwan. Currently, Krisaya teaches at the Department of Product Design, Montfort del Rosario School of Architecture and Design, Assumption University. The artist believes that the artistic process helps her appreciate the importance of all things, especially the internal mind. Her ceramic rings made from soil and paper symbolize human life and make her artwork stand out. She has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions across the globe, including in countries such as Japan, Canada, China, the USA, Taiwan, and Hungary. In 2018, Krisaya received an award from Next Art Tainan: The Metamorphosis, Taiwan. Moreover, her artwork has been included in the Flint Institute of Arts, USA.
