Screening today, “Hopper: An American Love Story”, RCB Film Club’s pick for the month, presents a portrait of Edward Hopper, the venerated American artist, that emphasizes the warp and weft of his private and personal lives, collaged from interviews with experts, diary excerpts and other archival documents. From his early years as a struggling illustrator to a career of critical and commercial success – a triumph realized through the support of his wife, Josephine Hopper, at the cost of her own career as an artist – the artist was famously a staunch recluse.

This evening, director Phil Grabsky lifts the veil covering the private life of one of the most prominent American artists of the 20th century, and an example of the disparate elements that can coalesce into monumental success.
